what do you write with?

Hey all, first time poster here, hope this post is alright! Anyways as the subject says, I'd like to know- what do you write with? Which program do you use? Do you write by hand? if so do you prefer pen or pencil, lined paper or blank?

I normally just use the wordpad program on my laptop. However, lately I haven't been writing much because little letters on a white background start hurting my eyes and giving me headaches. I wish there was a way to reverse it to white text on a black background. Oh well :

I use Google Documents. That way, no matter what computer I'm on, so long as it has the internet, I can keep working on my stories.

White text on black wouldn't be any better. Same contrast ratio. I heard in one of my design classes that black on yellow is easiest on the eyes. I guess it depends on what shade of yellow. Neon yellow would probably be worse.

Woa, I had heard of Google Documents but I never realized that's what it did. That's pretty awesome!

And the yellow used for the background here seems like a good shade. Thanks for the pointer :)

Have you ever tried Q10? During Nanowrimo or when I need to get a serious wordcount down, that's my favorite program to use. You can change around the text color, background color. It does take up the whole screen though, making it difficult to multi-task (which might be good thing), and it's windows only.

Other than that, I just use wordpad. Writing by hand never works out for me. I just tend to doodle everything out instead. ._.;

I'm a stickler for free software, being broke and jobless for as long as I've been. When it comes to writing regular stuff, things you'd normally write in Word or something, I stick with Notepad for the short stuff, and OpenOffice (a great freeware program) for longer stuff and regular document editing. For scriptwriting, I'm all about CeltX which is totally awesome for writing scripts, storyboarding, and even has a comicbook writing function which pay-for programs like Final Draft tend not to, and again all for free! Yaaaay!

I cannot for the life of me write pen on paper, my writing sucks way too much and is way too slow, haha. I just took a writing class this past semester for the first time in a long time, and the in-class essay writing KILLED ME LEIK WO.
